Salone Aquaponic is the first commercial aquaponic approach to launch in Sierra Leone. The goal of Salone Aquaponic is to bridge the gap between traditional fish breeding and hydroponic plant cultivation. The project has constructed several aquaponic units for business and private clients in Sierra Leone and conducted training on aquaponic technology to various institutions. The FAO recognized the ef forts of Salone Aquaponic and awarded a certificate as well as an Aquaponic Manual by F AO to the team. The team plans to build a larger, commercial aquaponic farm, powered by renewable energy, to supply local markets and restaurant with fresh products.
